Expansion of Ballina Broadcast Area.
Published Thu 28 Jan 2021
The broadcast area for Ballina was expanded on Thursday 28 January 2021.
It was expanded from 10 to 15 nautical miles (excluding the volume north of the Gold Coast 30 DME arc) from the surface up to 8,500 feet above mean sea level.
It will be mandatory for all aircraft flying in this area to make radio calls and only enter this airspace with an operational radio.
The Common Traffic Advisory Frequency (CTAF) at Ballina, Lismore, Casino and Evans Head will remain unchanged (124.2 MHz).
To learn more about the expansion, and the required radio calls, view the Aeronautical Information Publication Supplement.
If you are unsure what radio calls to use in non-controlled airspace, view our operations and non-controlled aerodromes and download our Be heard, be seen, be safe - radio procedures in non-controlled airspace booklet.
